Who is considered a “survivor” for the purposes of qualifying for a line separation under the Safe Connections Act? 

  • Under the Safe Connections Act, a “survivor” as an individual who is not less than 18 years old and either (i) against whom a covered act has been committed or allegedly committed; or (ii) who cares for another individual against whom a covered act has been committed or allegedly committed (provided that the individual providing care did not commit or allegedly commit the covered act). 
  • Mediacom treats legally emancipated minors as though they are survivors if they meet the above criteria but for their age.
